Information Security Manager Overview:

The position is within the Infrastructure group, which is responsible for managing and engineering the company’s global solutions for networks, firewalls, servers, databases and storage.

The ideal candidate will have in depth and practical experience of a broad range of technical, administrative and operational security controls.

Technical security experience should include in depth knowledge of network, perimeter and endpoint protection together with a strong understanding of Windows and UNIX operating systems and networking systems.

The candidate should understand and be comfortable with all the broad elements of Information Security from Data Leakage Protection to vulnerability scanning and patching.  The ability to be able to perform in-house Penetration Testing would be beneficial.

Administrative and operational security experience should include the development of high level security policies, operational procedures and guidelines within the context of a highly entrepreneurial organisation.

Communication skills are important, both oral and written. The candidate will be exposed to all levels of the business up to and including the board, as well as having significant direct exposure to clients through the support of sales and client vendor risk management activities. Key to success in this role is the ability to understand and communicate complex security issues in a way that is attuned to the concerns of the audience.

The candidate must hold CISSP or equivalent qualification.

Job Description:

The information security manager provides leadership and hands-on information (cyber) security support to the business, and holds responsibility for protecting TradingScreen and its clients from internal and external threats.


  • Maintain TradingScreen’s information security policy portfolio, covering areas that have an impact on the security of services to clients and the protection of TradingScreen itself. The policies will be aligned with the particular threats facing TradingScreen.
  • Benchmark TradingScreen’s existing security control environment to best practice, in particular to the CIS critical controls.
  • Where gaps exist between TradingScreen’s existing control environment and best practice, identify activities to close those gaps, including:
    • The development of administrative and operational controls, including operating procedures and guidelines where necessary.
    • Source, implement and maintain cost effective systems and tools (such as vulnerability assessment tools) to continually monitor TradingScreen’s security posture.
    • Recommend additional technical security controls where necessary.
    • Provide briefings to the Global head of infrastructure on the status of the organisation’s security and any improvement plans.
  • Continually monitor external threats, adjusting security controls where necessary to respond to emerging risks or changes in the services offered by the company.
  • Provide continuous training to TradingScreen staff, clearly explaining risks to the organisation and promoting behaviours that protect TradingScreen’s and its client’s businesses.
  • Support the sales and account management function within TradingScreen. Act as point of contact for client information risk management and third party due diligence activities. Assist with client security assurance activities where required. Ensure that TradingScreen controls are aligned with client expectations where possible.
  • Act as security advocate within the organisation, providing support and guidance to research and development, infrastructure and customer services teams where necessary.
  • Work with the application and infrastructure architects to ensure that future and solutions are in line with the company's security goals.
  • Develop an incident response capability for TradingScreen, contracting with external digital forensic and incident response specialists where necessary.
  • Identify security breaches, carry out remedial activities and managing downstream impacts, including impacts to the reputation of TradingScreen.
  • Perform regular penetration tests with contracted 3rd party vendor, verifying any findings, recommending mitigating activities and tracking those activities to completion.

In addition to the above functions, TradingScreen is expanding into web services and deployments into the Public Cloud. Knowledge of AWS, Azure or Google Cloud platform would be a distinct advantage as would experience in providing guidance on architecture and security best practices for cloud deployments.

The successful candidate will help design and deliver Cloud based solutions at TradingScreen.
