Securities Technology Monitor - TradingScreen Licensing Citi's Best Execution Comparison Service

TradingScreen said Tuesday it became the exclusive licensee of a service from Citigroup that allows trading firms to compare multiple brokers for best execution results, after trades are completed.

The supplier of execution management systems said it will oversee all multi-broker post-trade analytics for Citi's Best Execution Comparison Services.

The move will allow TradingScreen to combine its transaction cost analysis business with the best execution comparison service, said Philippe Buhannic, chief executive officer of TradingScreen.

"This license will allow Citi to deploy an independent TCA capability to its large client base in a very easy manner while providing them with a new level of service and integration,'' he said. This transaction also represents a step towards TradingScreen offering a one-stop-shop destination for large institutional clients for such services, he said.

Acquired by Citigroup in April, 2004, BECS is a Web-based system that has been fully-owned, but independently managed, by Citigroup Global Markets.

TradingScreen supplies electronic trading systems to institutional customers. Citi has approximately 200 million customer accounts and does business in more than 160 countries and territories.
